As we drove down the shore towards the Wylder Hotel Tilghman island Wedding for Kaitlyn and Derek’s wedding, it felt as if we were being transported to a different world. Tilghman island is a watermen community with only 800 resident, decedents of a the fishing community who have worked these waters for generations. It is the type of place were the rest of the world just fades away.

The hotel itself is an 1850’s boarding house which has been was converted into the perfect minimalist island escape. It truly felt like Katy Derek, their friends and family had been transported to a destination wedding on a secluded island.

Katy and Derek LOVE spending time at the beach, and there were tropical elements scattered throughout the wedding day. The tropical florals, pineapple centerpieces on each table, and the breathtaking decorated with palm trees, all tied everything together perfectly for this Wylder Hotel Tilghman Island Wedding.

They spend the morning hanging out with their friends and family- enjoying the lawn games, paddle boards, and other activities on the property. Katy and Derek’s Ceremony took place steps away from the water on the lawn, with the river making the most spectacular backdrop! After the ceremony, everyone headed to a cocktail hour, an oyster bar!

I talk to couples all the time who are hesitant about the first look. They are worried because they are worried it will ruin the “aisle moment.”- when that it just not the case! Katy and Derek decided to do a first look together before their ceremony. They were both a little nervous, but as soon as they saw each other, it was like all of that stress and anxiety just faded away!
