Lauren and Jon’s Fairmont DC wedding was a beautiful celebration filled with lush greenery. In fact, Lauren and Jon selected Fairmont for their DC wedding because of the venue’s glass greenhouse. When they toured the property, they instantly fell in love with the idea of hosting a large celebration in this space. They envisioned filling this space with their friends and family and turning it into a lavish secret garden wedding.

Curious to know how Lauren and Jon met? It was during their university days at Tulane. At the time Lauren was committed to strength training and was spending so much of her time in the weight room. Coincidentally, so did Jon. As their strength training schedules collided, Jon worked up the courage to introduce himself to Lauren. When their time in the gym was over, they went their separate ways without exchanging information. But, not to worry. As fate would have it, later that week, they ran into each other in the weight room once again. By this time Jon was ready to ask Lauren out on a date.

From the moment of their initial date, Lauren and Jon began to live life together side by side. Over the next seven years, they spent their time earning degrees, raising their puppy, enjoying the great outdoors, and jetting off to fabulous locations like Italy and Switzerland. After seven years of creating milestone memories together, Jon finally popped the question. He took Lauren out on a picnic, overlooking the DC skyline, and asked for her hand in marriage. She happily accepted and they set out to plan their Fairmont DC wedding.

An Elegant Wedding at Fairmont Hotel DC

It’s easy to see why Lauren and Jon fell in love with Fairmont. The upscale hotel is dubbed an urban oasis and combines the chic charm of DC with a large-scale wedding venue. This allowed them to plan an immersive wedding day experience for guests who were traveling to attend their wedding. Lauren and Jon hosted their ceremony in the Colonnade Room, cocktail hour in the courtyard and lobby, and a wedding reception celebration in the Colonnade Room. Later in the evening they also hosted an unofficial after-party in the lobby bar. I love how Lauren and Jon planned their wedding with their guest’s experience in mind. What they desired out of Fairmont, was so much more than a wedding venue. It was also to be a location where guests from out of town could gather in the lobby after a day of sightseeing together in DC.

When their wedding day arrived, a beautiful chuppah adorned with lush greenery sat at the center of the Colonnade Room at Fairmont DC. They had a traditional Jewish wedding ceremony including drinking from the kiddush cup, the wrapping of the tallit around Lauren & Jon’s shoulders, smashing the glass, and the signing of the ketubah. Following their ceremony, the newlyweds spent the night on the dance floor surrounded by their beloved friends and family members, in celebration.
