Turf Valley Wedding Photos
When I met with Allie at an adorable cafe in the shadow of the statehouse to chat about their upcoming wedding, we had no idea what we were in for. I have shot at several Turf Valley Weddings. Allie and I grew up together. sure it was going to be a fantastic day.
Until Covid 19 decided to throw a global pandemic into the mix.
Constantly changing local regulations and CDC guidelines meant that many of their wedding details were up in the air until the last minute. Meanwhile, Allie and Chris handled each change with grace. In the face of a very the team at turf valley weddings pivoted to each shift, despite the VERY uncertain times.
Firstly, my day started the day in the bridesmaid’s suite. Taking some fun details and getting ready shots with the bridesmaids.
Meanwhile, my second shooter headed up to the guy’s suite to photograph Chris and his groomsmen.
Then it was time for one of my new favorite things- The Bridesmaids Reveal! When it came time for Allie to get into her dress, her bridesmaids all went to the neighboring hotel room to finish getting ready. Meanwhile Allie’s mom helped her get into her wedding dress and put the finishing touches.
I love bridesmaid reveals for a few reasons:
- Firstly, it gives the bridesmaids a little more time to get ready
- Secondly, it gives the bride, her mom (and/or anyone else the bride wants in the room with her,) a special moment. It is their opportunity to to slow down, take a deep breath, and let it all soak in. Often times this is a moment of happy tears!
- Thirdly, The reveal is often the first time that many of the bridesmaid have seen the bride in her full wedding attire, and their reactions are PRICELESS!
Turf Valley Weddings
Turf Valley has a beautiful garden area surrounding the ceremony site. Protected by the old willow trees, it is the PERFECT location for portraits. Right next door is their beautiful ceremony location! It is nestled under a family of willow trees and overlooks the golf course. I have shot weddings there during several seasons, and it never disappoints. In addition, the surrounding gardens are the perfect shaded location for post-ceremony group portraits. In addition, this is especially convenient for family formals involving elderly family members with limited mobility.
After their bridesmaid reveal, Allie and I headed to the garden, where Chris and my second shooter were waiting for us to do the first look!
Ellicott city MD Wedding
It was time for golden hour portraits following the ceremony and family formals! A member of the turf valley team met us with our golf cart. We headed to the golf course for sunset husband and wife portraits while their guests headed to cocktail hour.
After that, Allie and Chris decided to take some time to rest outside of the ballroom. Taking a moment to relax and take a few deep breaths before it is time for them to be announced for the reception!
