A garden-inspired wedding filled with dreamy pastels at Dumbarton Oaks made Brenna and Chris’s wedding day feel like a Bridgerton-esque dream.

Dumbarton House is a historic museum, gardens, and wedding venue located in Washington DC. The venue features a north garden with redbrick detail. And an upper terrace where eloquent yet understated cocktail hours take place. Additionally, the venue also features a spacious room dubbed “Belle Vue” and a tented lower terrace. The lower terrace features glittering twinkle lights, stone details, and garden elements. All in all, curating an unforgettable experience for a wedding reception.

Brenna and Chris opted to host their guests, on the evening of their wedding, on the lower terrace of Dubmarton House for an intimate garden affair. Their wedding guests enjoyed a private space accented by hanging drapery, rich floral arrangements, and glittering gilt accents. It was an alluring candlelit experience that celebrated the newlywed’s adoration of local history coupled with their wedding day vision.

Just a few steps away from their wedding venue, Brenna and Chris said I do at a quaint chapel. Located through woodland grounds, the chapel was an intimate setting for Brenna and Chris to become married. To draw on the experience of their garden wedding-inspired vision, floral arrangements stood tall at the double-door entry to the chapel. Accordingly, gleams of soft sunlight poured into the chapel creating a dream-like experience. Brenna’s father escorted her down the aisle where Chris awaited his bride. Under the green stained glass focal point of the chapel, Brenna and Chris recited their sacred vows of marriage, becoming joined together for all of their days.

A garden-inspired wedding at Dumbarton Oaks

With their vows carefully recited and their newlywed kiss exchanged, it was time to work with Brenna and Chris on their wedding day portraits. Chris dutifully carried the train of his bride’s gown as they made the stroll from the chapel. Deep in the clearing, we found a stone stairway leading to a fountain. This space served as the location for Brenna and Chris to take a moment to soak in their brand-new marriage.

Meanwhile, Brenna and Chris’s guests enjoyed a delectable cocktail hour at Dumbarton Oaks before their wedding reception began. Their adorable flower girls sipped juice from fanciful straws while guests enjoyed passed hors d’oeuvres on the upper terrace. As guests continued to sip and partake in the merriment, Brenna & Chris were treated to a room reveal of their reception space. The joy on their faces was undeniable when the couple first laid eyes on their meticulously curated wedding reception space.

As their guests poured into the wedding reception space at Dumbarton Oaks, Brenna and Chris withdrew in order to make their grand entrance. As guests took their seats, the newlyweds descended the stone stairway to the lower courtyard where their love was celebrated for the remainder of the evening in the joyous reverie of their closest friends and cherished family members.
