Get ready to fall in love with Trang and Stephen’s unforgettable wedding day! From the breathtaking first look at the DC War Memorial to the intimate dinner and night of fun with loved ones, their wedding celebration was nothing short of magical. As their photographer, I was lucky enough to witness firsthand their intentional approach to their big day, which truly made all the difference in creating a wedding that was uniquely theirs. So, grab a cup of coffee, sit back, and join me as we jump in!

First look at the DC War Memorial

When we were crafting their photography timeline for their wedding day, Trang and Stephen mentioned how for their wedding day, it was essential to them that they had meaningful time TOGETHER on their wedding day. That’s when I suggested doing a first look. This would allow them to see each other for the first time without the pressure of family and friends watching. I explained that this would enable them to be present with each other and have a special moment for themselves.

It is the perfect opportunity to calm your nerves and soak it all in before the day’s chaos begins. So we decided to have their friends and family meet us at the nearby Jefferson Memorial, giving Trang and Stephen ample time to take portraits together before the ceremony.

Romantic DC War Memorial Wedding

As we set up the first look in the shadow of the War Memorial, the air was charged with nervous excitement! The moment that they saw each other for the first time, the nerves dissipated- replaced with pure joy!

We had scheduled plenty of time for them to soak it all in after the first look- laugh together, cry together, and enjoy each other’s company- instead of rushing off to the next portion of the day. By the time we got in the town car to head to the Jefferson, their nerves had dissipated entirely, and they were just excited to be getting married!

Trang and Stephen, and I had talked early on about how important it was to them that they get to spend time together on their wedding day. This knowledge helped us plan and approach the day intentionally, ensuring we captured photos that genuinely reflected their vision.

Classic Washington DC Wedding

Trang and Stephen opted for an intimate wedding celebration to ensure they could spend quality time with their guests, who had traveled from all over the country. After a traditional Catholic mass, the wedding headed to Old Town Alexandria for a sumptuous five-course dinner and some much-needed time to socialize with their friends and family.

To keep the mood light and fun, the couple decided to eschew a traditional dance floor and reception- instead taking everyone to Pinstripes in Georgetown for the after party- an epic night of bowling and Bocci booking and instead took everyone to Pinstripes in Georgetown for a night of Bowling and Bocci.

Pinstripes Wedding Afterparty

Seeing their friends and family from different chapters of their lives intermingling, relaxing, and having fun together was an extraordinary moment- and the perfect way to end the evening!
