Celebrations At the Bay: Emily and Steven

It almost impossible for me to choose just one favorite part of Emily and Steven’s day- there were so many memorable moments through out the day. The two that stick out to me the most would have to be their vows and Stevens face when he saw his bride! He just lit up. During their first look, the moment he saw his beautiful bride all of the nerves washed away, and were replaced by pure joy.

I often talk to brides who are concerned that doing a first look will take away ‘The aisle moment’- it does not, if anything it enhances it! Emily and Stevens ‘aisle moment’ is one of my absolute favorites. Scroll down, and you will see why!

Then came their vows, which were absolutely perfect. The perfect mix of humor, sentimentalism, and hope for the future. Emily and Steven were kind enough to allow me to include an excerpt from them below for you!

Stevens Vows

I love your thoughtfulness and your ability to keep me grounded. I love your loyalty to me and our relationship. I love how well you make your guacamole. I love how you realize that Maryland will always be better than Towson. I love the way you deal with my video games and my intense reactions to sports. You are the one I want to binge watch Netflix with forever.

I promise to be there to catch you if you should stumble, carry you over every threshold, and fall in love with you every day. I vow to remain loyal to you physically, emotionally and spiritually. I promise to support you, to honor you and to love you unconditionally, even when we may disagree on something. Like whether Say Yes to the Dress or College Basketball is more important to watch.

From this moment on, with you at my side, I promise to always live by the vows I make today. I promise to give you the best future I can and to be the best father I can when we welcome children into the world. I will love you whether we’re rich or poor, healthy or sick, young or old. I pledge to hold these promises dear to my heart for the rest of my life.

Steve, you are my best friend and better half. Today marks a new chapter in our lives. It only took you 6 years, but those 2,226 days have shown me how truly and selflessly you have dedicated your life to me. Not many people get to say that they’re going to marry their first love, but I’m lucky enough to be one of them. From the moment I met you, I knew that I had found a new kind of happiness I seriously thought existed only in Disney Movies.

Starting today, I promise to always make you laugh even if it’s at me and not with me. I promise to keep our relationship fun and not let the monotony of life dull our adventures. I promise to care for you and put you first in all aspects of our lives. As your wife, I will make sure to always remind you just how important you are to me, even if you get tired of hearing it. I promise to never let us go to bed mad because this life is too short to spend even a second angry at one another. I promise to inspire you and help you grow as an individual so that we can grow stronger as one. I pinky promise to love you unconditionally, even when you’re old, wrinkly, and gray.

Over the past 6 years, I have learned all of the things that you love oh so much, so that being said:

I promise to always leave the lights on in the rooms I’m not in.

I promise to forget my cell phone, purse, or wallet seconds before leaving the house.

I promise to make you a PB&J wish cheese in it even though I will be silently judging how gross that combination is as I make it with love!

I promise to listen to your advice, and occasionally take it.

And I promise to not come home with any cute puppies after my Target runs unless you say I can.

I cannot promise I will always be the perfect wife, but I promise to love you through the good times and bad. To choose our love every single day. I promise to remember we are not perfect—only perfect for each other.

I see these vows not as promises but as privileges: I get to laugh with you and cry with you; care for you and share with you. I get to run with you and if I’m lucky enough I get to pull you across a finish line with me hand in hand;

Steve, I am beyond excited for this next phase of life with you. I love you and you are the best thing that’s ever been mine.

Steven and Emily- where do I even start? THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart for trusting us & welcoming us with open arms. I have enjoyed getting know you both over the last two years, and am happy to call you not only clients but friends now too!! Can’t wait to grab drinks with you both SOON!
